However, it's never too early to start looking ahead to the 2026 season. Specifically, it's always a good time to start analyzing futures odds in baseball, and this time, we'll take a look at the 2026 World Series odds.
Let's start by saying that a lot of things can happen between now and Opening Day. We still have the Hot Stove of free agency to that is sure to impact some teams' outlooks and, by extension, their World Series odds. Spring training always brings hope for buzzy prospects, but it can also have some impactful injuries that can railroad things, such as Gerrit Cole's 2025 season ending before it got started.
Player-movement aside, let's take a deep look at what the early odds indicate about the 2026 World Series. There are teams bound to contend in 2026, and even though there's always a surprising franchise or two, the contenders' field is pretty much set. It will be interesting to see whether these teams match the pre-season expectations.
Without further ado, here are the teams with the best odds to win the 2026 MLB World Series.

Los Angeles Dodgers World Series Odds

The 2025 regular season ended Nov.1, and even though there's a lot of player movement bound to happen in free agency, one thing is clear. Right now, no team in baseball looks equipped to slow down the Dodgers. The Dodgers have one of the most complete lineups in the majors, anchored by Shohei Ohtani but filled with elite-level talent from top to bottom, where the likes of Freddie Freeman, Mookie Betts and Teoscar Hernandez also stand out.
When it comes to the pitching, few rotations in the majors are as deep as the Dodgers', and the trio of Ohtani, Blake Snell, and Yoshinobu Yamamoto rivals any top-of-the-rotation not only in the NL, but in all of baseball. And if we factor the presence of Dave Roberts in the dugout, it's easy to see why the Dodgers have such a significant edge in the early odds to win the 2026 World Series. They have virtually no holes on their roster, even if their bullpen needs some work, but they also have deep enough pockets to target elite-level talent in free agency if needed.
The +370 odds are a perfect reflection of how the betting world sees the Dodgers right now. The best team in baseball with a dangerous lineup, elite arms in the rotation and enough pitching depth to overcome any potential injury. The Dodgers aren't expected to make many changes to their core for the 2026 season and are clear favorites to win the three-peat, although the movements in free agency could determine whether any team can close the gap between them and the rest of the baseball world.
For now, though, these are very good odds. No team looks equipped to dethrone the Dodgers, so it would be best to take advantage of these odds before they get any lower.
New York Yankees

2025 season outcome: Lost in ALDS to Blue Jays

The Yankees didn't even reach the ALCS, so it wouldn't be a stretch to say their 2025 season was a disappointment. The Yankees' biggest strength is their offense, and the numbers backed that up once again in 2025.
Anchored by the reigning AL MVP, Aaron Judge, in the middle of the order, the Yankees led the majors in several MLB stats such as home runs (274), runs scored (849) and RBI (820). The team needs to find a way to bring back both Trent Grisham and Cody Bellinger to avoid an offensive regression, but all things considered, the Yankees should have enough offense to be a powerhouse in the AL once again.
The lack of pitching could potentially be an issue for the Yankees, especially since Gerrit Cole (elbow) and Carlos Rodon (elbow) will open the 2026 season on the injured list. As has been the case in recent years, the Yankees will go as far as their offense can carry them if the staff doesn't get some reinforcements.
The +750 odds are a bit puzzling, as they rank the Yankees as the best team in the American League -- which wasn't the case in 2025. Projecting significant improvement for the Yankees requires a bit of a leap of faith. Even though that could change after free agency, particularly if they land one of the coveted Japanese pitchers, the +750 odds aren't a true reflection of the place the Yankees deserve in the American League. These are stingy odds for a team that's not even a lock to win its own division.

Philadelphia Phillies 
2026 MLB World Series Odds: +1100
2025 season outcome: Lost in NLDS to Dodgers
2025 regular-season record: 96-66
On paper, the Phillies looked like the best team to dethrone the Dodgers in the NL in 2025. They had the pitching, the star power, the lineup and the bullpen to do so. However, when Philadelphia had to make a statement against the Dodgers in the NLDS, they lost. Significant changes are coming in Philadelphia in 2026, although they still have Bryce Harper, Trea Turner, J.T. Realmuto, Aaron Nola, Jesus Luzardo and Cristopher Sanchez.
It doesn't appear that Kyle Schwarber will be back, which would leave a massive hole at the top of the lineup. They also have a huge question mark in the rotation, as Zack Wheeler is expected to make his debut at some point in the first half of the 2025 season. Their depth will be tested, and if they can't afford to bring Schwarber back, it's hard to see them as a real threat to the Dodgers in their World Series path. Right now, though, the bookies are trusting Philadelphia's roster continuity and star power. But that could change after the first dominoes start to fall in free agency.
The +1100 odds suggest the Phillies are the biggest threat in the NL to challenge the Dodgers. However, the Phillies need to find a way to replace Schwarber's production if he doesn't return, which is far from an easy task. The Phillies could be ranked in a group of second-tier contenders in the NL, next to the Brewers, the Padres and possibly the Mets, but the +1100 odds look a bit aggressive. It seems the market is putting too much focus on the overall value of the roster, and it isn't considering enough the team's recent failures in October, as well as the potential lineup hole generated by the absence of Schwarber.

Houston Astros 
2026 MLB World Series Odds: +1300
2025 season outcome: 2nd place in AL West, missed playoffs
2025 regular-season record: 87-75
Without a doubt, the biggest surprise is seeing the Astros ranking so high in this list. Houston finished in second place in the AL West in 2025 and didn't even reach the playoffs while posting underwhelming stats in several categories.
Let's dissect the numbers. The Astros had the seventh-best OPS in the AL (.714), the eighth-best slugging percentage (.399), 10th in homers (182) and eighth in runs scored (686). However, the Astros had Yordan Alvarez available for less than 50 games due to injuries, and also saw Isaac Paredes deal with a nagging hamstring problem. Plus, they experienced a down year from Jose Altuve (.265 with a .771 OPS) and will have a full season of Carlos Correa, who was acquired from the Twins near the deadline.
A return to form and having their key players available for most of the season should be enough to make the Astros contenders in the AL as long as the pitching can get the job done after a 2025 campaign in which they posted the fifth-best ERA in the AL (3.86). That, of course, will be tested if Framber Valdez is in the rotation for another team.
Is that enough to believe the Astros are the second-best team in the AL behind the Yankees? At least that's what the +1300 odds seem to indicate, but these odds are way too high. The Astros didn't even make the playoffs in 2025, so these odds aren't a true reflection of what Houston might accomplish in 2026. There are better options with better odds if you're looking to take a flyer in an AL team winning the 2026 World Series, such as the next team we're about to analyze.
Seattle Mariners 
2026 MLB World Series Odds: +1300
2025 season outcome: Lost in ALCS to Blue Jays
2025 regular-season record: 90-72
The Mariners snapped their playoff drought to claim the AL West title, and they came quite close to reaching the 2025 World Series after losing to the Toronto Blue Jays in the ALCS. Seattle turned heads with their impressive campaign in 2025, but they seem to have a strong foundation to repeat another deep run in 2026.
Cal Raleigh, who led the majors in the regular season with 60 while posting 125 RBI and a .948 OPS, provides stability behind the plate and in the middle of the order. They also have a budding outfield star in Julio Rodriguez and re-signed Josh Naylor to a five-year deal, so the core of the lineup that made a deep playoff run in 2025 should be under contract again in 2026. The pitching might be the team's Achilles heel, but their 3.87 collective ERA ranked sixth in the AL while posting the second-best WHIP in the circuit (1.22).
The Mariners will have to battle with the Astros for the top spot in the AL West, but on paper, they seem to be in a very good position to be a real contender in the American League for the rest of the decade. The +1300 odds are tied for fourth-best overall and second-best in the AL alongside the Houston Astros.
This is the perfect example of how the same odds can look completely different in two teams. They're high on the Astros, but at the same time, they're too low for a Seattle team that finished only a few outs away from reaching the 2025 World Series while having elite young talent and an electric offense. The Mariners certainly have a strong argument to be considered among the best teams in the AL, so taking a flyer on Seattle winning the World Series at +1300 makes plenty of sense. They seem positioned to be a top team in the AL for years to come, and their championship odds for 2026 should be closer to +1000 rather than +1500.
New York Mets 
2026 MLB World Series Odds: +1500
2025 season outcome: 2nd place in NL East, missed playoffs
2025 regular-season record: 83-79
The Mets were among the most disappointing teams in all of baseball in 2025. Despite having an astronomically high payroll and owning the best record in the majors at the beginning of June, they suffered an epic collapse down the stretch and couldn't make the Wild Card round, losing the final spot at the hands of the Cincinnati Reds. The Mets are perhaps the team most affected by the free-agent market.
As things stand now, they will have to find a way to replace Pete Alonso and Edwin Diaz. Neither the star slugger nor the lockdown closer are expected to return to Queens, leaving two huge voids on the roster. They addressed one of those already by inking Devin Williams on Dec. 1.
Adding on, the Mets also play in one of baseball's most competitive divisions. The Phillies are a true contender, Atlanta should be on the rise after a disappointing 2025 campaign, and the Marlins are a team on the upswing based on their performances during the second half of the 2025 season.
All these factors make the +1500 odds too high and far from realistic in my opinion, as they're not even the best team in the division and should be in the mix for a Wild Card berth if everything goes right for them. Their World Series odds should hover closer to the +2000 range even after completing a trade to acquire Marcus Semien in exchange for Brandon Nimmo. Potentially losing Alonso and Diaz might be two blows the Mets won't be able to recover from.
World Series Dark Horses
If you think there's a big absentee among the odds-on favorites, it's because there are a few teams that aren't getting a lot of respect from the bookmakers. Among this group, we can find the following:
Boston Red Sox 
2026 MLB World Series Odds: +1600
2025 season outcome: Lost in AL Wild Card to Yankees
2025 regular-season record: 89-73
The Red Sox lost to the Yankees in the AL Wild Card Round in the 2025 season, but given the team's youth, this is an organization that should compete in the AL East for years to come. They have young players ready to make a sizable impact on both sides of the ball, and their rotation is led by one of the best hurlers in the game in Garrett Crochet, who finished second in the AL Cy Young voting in 2025.
The Red Sox ranked fourth in OPS during the 2025 regular season, so they should have viable offensive pieces to remain a competitive force in the AL. However, the likely departure of Alex Bregman will leave a sizable hole in their lineup. Boston could make another playoff run and maybe get past the Wild Card Round this time around. However, it's hard to see them as a legitimate World Series candidate.
They seem to be a couple of pieces away from being genuine contenders, and that's particularly true on the pitching side. The Red Sox ranked 10th in WHIP (1.29) and in K/9 (8.46), and 12th in K/9 (2.57), in the 2025 regular season. Crochet aside, their arms don't strike fear in opposing hitters.
Is that enough to mount a challenge to win the World Series? The +1600 odds seem to indicate so, but let's be realistic here. Those odds believe the Red Sox have a better chance of winning the 2026 World Series than the Brewers or the Padres, and they're on par with the Mariners and Blue Jays. That's just not true. The +1600 odds look too high for Boston based on what they accomplished in 2025 and how tough the AL East will be in 2026.
Milwaukee Brewers 
2026 MLB World Series Odds: +2000
2025 season outcome: Lost in NLCS to Dodgers
2025 regular-season record: 97-65
The Brewers were the biggest surprise in the 2025 season -- even more surprising than the Mariners' deep playoff run and the Blue Jays' trip to the World Series. Despite operating with a low payroll, the Brewers posted the best regular-season record in 2025 at 97-65, and hadn't they rested some key pieces down the stretch, they could've ended with at least 100 wins. The Brewers gassed out in the playoffs, though, needing five games to get past the Cubs in the NLDS and being swept by the Dodgers in the NLCS.
Milwaukee should be in the race for the NL Central crown once again, especially since the team isn't expected to undergo too many changes from a roster perspective. They relied on their pitching throughout the 2025 regular season, as they led the NL in collective ERA at 3.58 while ranking fifth in WHIP (1.23) and second in batting average allowed (.230). Look for the Brewers to be a respectable playoff contender in the NL, but it seems this team is a few pieces shy of being a true contender when compared to teams like the Dodgers, Phillies and even the Mets.
As such, their +2000 odds aren't making Milwaukee any favors. That's too low for a team that posted the best record in the 2025 MLB regular season. Milwaukee's odds should trend closer to +1500 or even +1100, like the Phillies. However, as a small-market team that seemed to have everything going their way in the second half of the 2025 season, some regression could be expected. Still, the Brewers are among the teams with the biggest discrepancies when comparing the 2026 World Series odds and the results in 2025.
Toronto Blue Jays 
2026 MLB World Series Odds: +1600
2025 season outcome: Lost World Series to Dodgers
2025 regular-season record: 94-68
The Blue Jays made it all the way to the World Series and forced the Dodgers to seven games, but ultimately, they came up short at Rogers Centre and had to see Los Angeles celebrate on their own turf. The Blue Jays have elite talent in the rotation and in the lineup, headlined by star slugger Vladimir Guerrero, but there's also a strong likelihood Bo Bichette will not return to the team. Toronto ranked ninth in the AL in WHIP (1.27) and opposing batting average (.241) while posting the sixth-worst collective ERA (4.19) in the circuit. The Dylan Cease signing bolstered the rotation, though and shortened the odds from +2000 to +1600.
The Blue Jays got hot at the right time, allowing them to reach the World Series, but it seems like a long shot to see them competing at this level again in 2026. Squared in one of the best divisions in baseball won't do any favors to a Blue Jays team that needs to bolster both the rotation and the lineup to have a shot at making another deep playoff run. In this case, and despite the impressive postseason campaign in 2025, the bookies are being fair with Toronto's chances of repeating the World Series trip. The +1600 odds look right in place with the Blue Jays' expectations for 2026, even if they ended just a few outs away from winning it all in 2025.
Chicago Cubs 
2026 MLB World Series Odds: +2200
2025 season outcome: Lost in NLDS to Brewers
2025 regular-season record: 92-70
The Cubs had one of the best offenses in the National League during the 2025 season. Even though the team experienced a marked regression in the final six weeks of the campaign, they still ranked in the Top 5 in several offensive categories during the regular season, such as runs scored (third), doubles (fourth), triples (third), home runs (third), RBI (second) and OPS (fifth). Losing Kyle Tucker will be a massive blow for the Cubs, but that could open up opportunities for young players to step up, unless they sign a big bat in free agency.
The Cubs also have an elite defense, headlined by Pete Crow-Armstrong, Dansby Swanson and Nico Hoerner, but what will really separate them from the pack of contenders in the NL will be their pitching. A full healthy season of Justin Steele and Cade Horton could be a long way, and since they brought Shota Imanaga back, the Cubs might be only a few pieces away from making a deep playoff run. The +2200 odds are a pretty accurate reflection of the expectations, as they put them in the upper echelon of the NL while also sitting behind the top-tier contenders, such as the Dodgers, Phillies and Brewers.
Extreme darkhorse candidates
Last but not least, there are some teams with surprising odds, to say the least. Let's dive a bit deeper into some of the teams that are carrying odds that don't align with what happened during the 2025 campaign. We'll focus on two teams in particular: Atlanta and Baltimore.
Atlanta (+1600) has the eighth-best odds to win the 2026 MLB World Series, and the fourth-best odds in the NL. That's surprising considering Atlanta finished the 2025 campaign in fourth place in the NL East with a 76-86 record. Injuries took a toll in Atlanta, and seemingly everything that could've gone wrong for the team went even worse. If Atlanta experiences a bounce-back year on offense and if most of their key players stay healthy, don't be surprised if they make a run at the NL East once again. That said, the +1600 odds are extremely high for Atlanta. It's higher than the Brewers and Cubs, as well as the Red Sox and Blue Jays, just to mention a few teams.
The same could be said about the Orioles. Even though their +3000 odds are significantly higher than Atlanta, most bookies believe they could be in the AL Wild Card race even if they project as the fourth-best team in the AL East behind the Yankees, Red Sox and Blue Jays (in that order, per the odds). The Orioles had a woeful season in 2025, as they finished dead last in the division with a 75-87 record, but they should be primed for a bounce-back campaign in 2026. It might be a stretch to consider Baltimore a real contender to make it to the World Series, but if I were to pick a sleeper no one is talking about, it wouldn't be the worst option to choose the Orioles.
