Personal Bio/PreCareer Summary

Diallo was born in Queens, New York in 1998. He is the son of Marima and Abdoulaye Diallo and has three siblings. For his first two years of high school, he played at John Browne HS in Flushing, New York. After garnering attention at the 2015 Under Armour Association Circuit and the NBPA Top 100 and Adidas Nations camps, Diallo transferred to Putnam Science Academy in Putnam, Connecticut before his junior season. He was heavily recruited by six universities and ultimately choose Kentucky. During his rookie NBA season, he hosted Hami Diallo's Community Day in Flushing, giving back to his community with a "day full of giveaways, basketball games and music". You can follow Diallo on Twitter (@hamidoudiallo) and Instagram (@hami.diallo). Diallo's college career consisted of a single year at the University of Kentucky. He is currently one of four Wildcats from the 2017-18 roster to play at the NBA level. Diallo averaged 10.0 points, 3.6 rebounds and 1.2 assists while starting all 37 games during his redshirt freshman season at Kentucky. The guard was named SEC Freshman of the Week after a 20-point, three-steal effort versus Virginia Tech. He also led the Wildcats in scoring in four games and in steals six times. During Kentucky's second-round NCAA Tournament win over Buffalo, Diallo made a career-high nine shots and added eight boards, two blocks and a steal. He was selected by the Nets with the 45th overall pick of the 2018 NBA Draft before being traded twice and signing with the Thunder several weeks later.

Records double-double in G League
FCapital City Go-Go   G League (Wizards)
March 27, 2024
Diallo delivered 23 points (8-20 FG, 2-5 3Pt, 4-5 FT), 14 rebounds and an assist across 36 minutes in Wednesday's 122-116 G League win over the Blue Coats.
ANALYSIS
Since the beginning of February, Diallo has scored in double digits in all but one of his appearances, and his consistency makes him one of the most reliable offensive options for the Go-Go. Diallo should continue to play a prominent role in the Go-Go's regular-season finale against Grand Rapids on Saturday.

Latest Fantasy Rumors
Plateauing in G League
FCapital City Go-Go   G League (Wizards)
December 20, 2023
Diallo is shooting 50.5 percent from the field through 14 G League appearances, fueled by 60.9 percent shooting at the rim, but he's connecting on just 24.4 percent of his jumpers.
ANALYSIS
Diallo's lack of shooting is what prevents him from ascending to an NBA opportunity. The 25-year-old still has youth on his side, is a plus-athlete on both ends and has a good finishing repertoire, but he's a career 27.4 percent shooting from beyond the arc across six NBA seasons. Making no progress as a shooter at a lower level, it's tough to envision Diallo getting a call-up, given the emphasis on shooting from role players in modern offensives.

Past Fantasy Outlooks
2022
2021
2019
Diallo will return to the Pistons after the team opted to pick up his player option. Coming off a relatively underwhelming season, he should slot in as a regular piece of the second unit, providing him with an opportunity to at least make a case for more playing time. During the 2021-22 campaign, Diallo played in 58 games, compiling averages of just 11.0 points, 4.8 rebounds and 1.2 steals in 22 minutes per game. This had him well outside the standard league discussion, somewhere he figures to remain moving forward.
Diallo is coming off the best season in his young career so far (11.6 points, 5.2 rebounds, 1.9 assists and 0.8 steals). The 23-year-old even managed a career-high 35-point night against the Hornets on May 4. The former Kentucky guard shot the ball at career-high marks, hitting 47.7 percent from the field and 34.1 percent from behind the three-point arc. Over the offseason, Diallo signed a two-year deal to stay in Detroit. The Pistons' No. 1 pick, Cade Cunningham, is expected to take on a big role. As a result, Diallo's minutes will likely take a hit, and he'll probably be forced to come off the bench behind Cunningham, Josh Jackson and Saddiq Bey. Diallo will most likely only provide value in deep fantasy leagues this year.
The second-round pick played a minimal role in his first NBA season, but he flashed a lot of upside with his freak athleticism, most notably winning the Slam Dunk Contest. The Kentucky product averaged 3.7 points and 1.9 rebounds in 10.3 minutes, appearing in 51 games. His per-36 numbers were encouraging, as he averaged 13.0 points, 6.6 rebounds and 2.1 combined blocks/steals. With Paul George and Russell Westbrook gone, there are plenty of minutes and opportunities available for Diallo to see his role expand. He'll compete for playing time as a reserve wing with the likes of Dennis Schroder, Terrance Ferguson and Abdel Nader. It's reasonable to expect a bump in playing time and production for Diallo in his second season, but he's not on the fantasy radar in standard leagues yet. He should be reserved for deep leagues as a late-round pick with upside.
