Najarian replaced Lance LeGendre in the second quarter and completed 12 of 23 passes for 218 yards and two touchdowns during the 27-24 loss to Rutgers on Saturday.
ANALYSIS
Lance LeGendre got the start at quarterback due to Taulia Tagovailoa being sidelined with a positive COVID-19 test. The Terps turned to Najarian, however, after LeGendre threw a pair of first-quarter interceptions. The sophomore provided some life for the offense as he tossed a pair of touchdown passes, but Maryland ultimately fell to the Scarlet Knights in overtime. Tagovailoa will be sidelined 21 days per Big Ten protocol, so Najarian could to be in the driver's seat to start next Saturday (opponent currently undetermined).
