2024 Projections
2023 Fantasy Outlook
In his first year with the Broncos, Williams recorded 44 tackles, seven pass deflections, one sack and one interception while starting in eight of 14 games. The veteran cornerback proved he can be an effective contributor on a strong defense. Williams is poised to fill the backup role behind fellow cornerback Damarri Mathis, but his standout performances during training camp thus far could improve his chances of taking the No. 1 spot opposite of Patrick Surtain. Nonetheless, the 32-year-old provides great depth to Denver's formidable defensive backfield. Read Past Outlooks
RANKS
Not expected to return to Denver
Williams (ankle) is not expected to be re-signed by the Broncos, Ryan McFadden of The Denver Post reports.
ANALYSIS
Williams is set to become a free agent Wednesday, and it doesn't appear like he'll be back in Denver for a third season in 2024. The cornerback missed the entirety of the 2023 campaign as a result of a left ankle injury, and he'll now enter the open market. In his most recent active year in 2022, Williams recorded 44 tackles, including 1.0 sacks, while intercepting a pass and deflecting seven others over 14 games with Denver.

Williams has quietly become one of the league's top slot corners since taking over the role with San Francisco in 2017. The 28-year-old posted strong physical stats for his position, racking up 51 tackles, four forced fumbles and a sack to go along with his two interceptions. Those totals look even better when factoring in that he only sees the field in nickel and lighter packages. The 49ers picked up the option on Williams' contract, so he will be manning the slot for the 2020 season.
