Will take on Estevam in April
FlyweightUFC
February 19, 2023
Candelario will take on Rafael Estevam on a flyweight UFC event scheduled for April 22, Marcel Dorff of Eurosport.nl reports.
ANALYSIS
Candelario lost to Jake Hadley via submission in a UFC event in Las Vegas in November last year. He owns an 8-3-0 record at the professional level, and things are getting complicated for Candelario with the company, as he has lost back-to-back contests while also missing weight in the loss to Hadley.
Loses after missing weight
FlyweightUFC
November 5, 2022
Candelario lost to Jake Hadley via submission (triangle choke) at 2:39 of Round 2 at UFC Fight Night on Saturday in Las Vegas.
ANALYSIS
Candelario is the second fighter in the span of two bouts to begin the evening to lose after missing weight a day earlier. Carlos was somewhat competitive for about a round before the roof caved in. He pushed forward for a takedown early in Round 2, and got it, only to immediately find himself in a compromising position. He ate a boatload of vicious elbows from Hadley before eventually being forced to tap out. Between the weight miss and back-to-back losses to begin his UFC run, Candelario's time with the company appears to be on life support. The fact he dropped a split decision on Dana White's Contenders Series in August 2021 doesn't help matters, either.
Misses weight Friday
FlyweightUFC
November 4, 2022
Candelario weighed in at 128.5 pounds ahead of Saturday's fight against Jake Hadley, two and a half pounds over the flyweight limit, MMAJunkie.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Candelario will not make another attempt on the scale, so he'll forfeit 20 percent of his purse to Hadley regardless of the fight's outcome, John Morgan of The Underground reports. Candelario also missed weight prior to his last fight against Tatsuro Taira, so it's certainly something the flyweight will need to address going forward.
Targeted for Nov. 5 event

August 22, 2022
Candelario is expected to fight Jake Hadley at the UFC event on Nov. 5, Mike Heck of MMAFighting.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Candelario fell to Tatsuro Taira by unanimous decision after missing weight in May. He will take on a fighter in Hadley coming off an injury and falling his UFC debut in May.
Drops decision after missing weight
FlyweightUFC
May 14, 2022
Candelario lost to Tatsuro Taira via unanimous decision (26-30, 27-30, 27-30) at UFC on ESPN 36 on Saturday in Las Vegas.
ANALYSIS
Candelario managed to see the final bell and threatened with a deep guillotine choke early in Round 3, which was probably about a best-case scenario considering he missed weight by half a pound on Friday morning and was going up against an opponent who looks like one of the best Japanese prospects in recent memory. Candelario landed just 21 total strikes. Taira connected on 89. On the flip side, Candelario did land a pair of takedowns, but it still didn't lead to him generating any significant offense. The 30-year-old Connecticut native appeared on Dana White's Contender Series last August, dropping a split decision to Victor Altamirano. He probably needs a victory his next time out to save his job.
