Gary Payton Injury: Progressing in recovery

The Warriors announced Thursday that Payton (thumb) is making good progress in his recovery and is considered day-to-day.

Payton suffered a partial tear of a ligament in his left thumb in a March 25 loss to Miami and has missed Golden State's previous three contests. Although Payton will remain sidelined Thursday against the Lakers, he looks on track to play again before the end of the regular season.
