Jalen Brunson News: Scores 15 points in return
Brunson (ankle) recorded 15 points (3-9 FG, 1-4 3Pt, 8-10 FT), six assists, two rebounds and one steal across 34 minutes during Sunday's 112-98 victory over Phoenix.
Playing for the first time since March 6 after missing the previous 15 games with a right ankle sprain, Brunson stepped back into the starting five and didn't operate with any major restrictions, playing just one minute fewer than his season-long average (35.4 per game). He took on lower usage (23 percent) than normal, but Brunson should take on more responsibilities during the Knicks' upcoming playoff run. With four games left in the regular season, the Knicks hold a three-game edge over the Pacers for the No. 3 seed in the Eastern Conference and won't be able to move up in the standings, so Brunson could be at risk of resting or playing more limited minutes during the upcoming week once the team's playoff positioning is secure.
