Jerar Encarnacion Injury: Placed on IL

The Giants placed Encarnacion (hand) on the 10-day injured list Wednesday.

Encarnacion is slated to undergo surgery after fracturing his left hand last Friday and is expected to miss at least a month. His move to the injured list will create a spot on the active roster for Christian Koss, whose contract was selected from Triple-A Sacramento in a corresponding move.
