Team: Arizona Diamondbacks
Total Saves: 28
Closer: Kevin Ginkel
(7/9) Arizona's bullpen was considered a strength entering the 2025 campaign, but injuries have piled up for this unit. First, A.J. Puk (elbow) - who racked up 4 saves over the first few weeks of the season - required Tommy John surgery in late-June. Justin Martinez (elbow) was next in line for TJ, leaving the D'Backs without their top-2 relief pitchers. Veteran Shelby Miller filled in admirably, compiling 10 saves until a forearm injury required a trip to the 15-day IL. Miller will undergo an MRI to understand the extent of his forearm strain. Diamondbacks manager Torey Lovullo said "We're gonna piece it together the best way we can," and "I'm not gonna say anybody's gonna close the game." That said, Kevin Ginkel is the favorite of those contending for save opportunities, with Jalen Beeks, Kyle Backhus and Juan Morillo also in the mix.

Team: Sacramento Athletics
Total Saves: 24
Closer: Mason Miller
Next in Line: Michael Kelly , Jack Perkins
(7/9) Despite some hiccups in 2025, Mason Miller has solidified himself as the Athletics' closer, averaging 101 mph on his 4-seamer while blowing away opposing hitters at a 40.2% clip. Unfortunately, the exciting right-hander has battled control problems, issuing 13 walks over his last 19.2 innings (since May 1) after permitting just 2 free passes over his first 11 outings. If Miller were to get hurt or traded (though it seems unlikely), Michael Kelly figures to be next in line for save chances.

Team: Atlanta Braves
Total Saves: 14
Closer: Raisel Iglesias
Next in Line: Pierce Johnson , Dylan Lee
(7/9) While Dylan Lee ended Atlanta's 1+ month long save draught on June 23, he hasn't recorded a save since that date. Raisel Iglesias, who opened the 2025 campaign as the Braves' unquestioned closer, picked up a save the very next day, but Atlanta has dropped 10-of-12 games since then with no saves during that stretch. Iglesias struggled through the first few months of the season and seemingly had turned over closing duties to Lee, but the veteran right-hander has put together an impressive 11-game scoreless streak as the trade deadline approaches. Iglesias figures to reclaim closing duties for Atlanta in the short-term, showcasing his high-leverage prowess for playoff-bound teams who may be interested in trading for the upcoming free-agent. Iglesias's chances of being traded over the next few weeks are very high. That considered, it may be worth holding onto Lee, who could step back into closing duties if or when Iglesias is moved.

- 6/29:A.J. Minter, who logged his first save of the season Tuesday at Philadelphia, has appeared in 3 games in 4 days. This makes Will Smith the likeliest candidate for a save chance if one were to arise Wednesday.

Team: Baltimore Orioles
Total Saves: 25
Closer: Felix Bautista 15-Day IL
Next in Line: Seranthony Dominguez , Andrew Kittredge
(7/25) Felix Bautista (shoulder) has recorded 19 of the Orioles' 25 saves for a 76% team save share through late-July, but a shoulder injury will sideline "The Mountain" until early-August, at the earliest. Bautista is set to have an MRI to determine the severity of the injury on July 25. Bautista's name had recently come up in trade rumors, but the injury likely means he's staying put ahead of the July 31 deadline. Seranthony Dominguez is the favorite to receive the bulk of the save chances for Baltimore while Bautista is shelved, although interim manager Tony Mansolino indicated he'll play matchups late in games. Those matchups will not include Gregory Soto, who was just dealt to the Mets. Dominguez is also a trade candidate since he's a free-agent at season's end, while Andrew Kittredge could also draw interest. Keegin Agin (shoulder) is currently rehabbing in the minors, but represents a possible next-in-line candidate for saves once he's healthy enough to return.

Team: Boston Red Sox
Total Saves: 27
Closer: Aroldis Chapman
Next in Line: Jordan Hicks , Garrett Whitlock
(7/10) Aroldis Chapman has been the best reliever in the American League (and possibly all of MLB) through early-July, boasting a 0.78 WHIP and 53:10 K:BB across 36 innings thus far. The recently named All-Star has significantly improved his walk rate and First Pitch Strike Percentage this season while maintaining elite velocity and a career-best 21.7 percent swinging strike rate. Chapman has recorded 15 of Boston's 24 saves, but the Red Sox closer role may be in flux as the trade deadline approaches. Chapman is a pending free-agent is widely considered the best left-handed reliever available, so it would be shocking if Boston did not trade him, even in the thick of the AL Wild Card race. If the southpaw is indeed moved, recently acquired Jordan Hicks is the presumed favorite to step into the closer role, as he recently picked up a save for his new club. Garrett Whitlock, Justin Wilson and Greg Weissert are also candidates for high-leverage roles, with Whitlock the favorite among the three to see save opportunities.

Team Notes
- 6/27:Tanner Houck was placed on the restricted list Monday prior to Boston's three-game series at Toronto. Matt Strahm and John Schreiber are the likeliest candidates for save opportunities should any arise during the series.
- 10/11:Hansel Robles exited Game 3 of the ALDS on Sunday due to a stomach illness after allowing two runs in two-thirds of an inning. He should be considered day-to-day due to his illness. Assuming he tests negative for COVID-19, it wouldn't be surprising to see the right-hander available for Game 4 on Monday. It was the first earned run he's allowed since August 29.
- 10/5:Entering tonight's AL Wild Card game against the Yankees, Hansel Robles has not allowed an earned run in 15 consecutive outings. Both he and Adam Ottavino enter tonight's contest with two-days rest, while Garrett Richards and Garrett Whitlock have had one day of rest after both pitched on Sunday.

Team: Chicago Cubs
Total Saves: 24
Closer: Daniel Palencia
Next in Line: Ryan Pressly , Drew Pomeranz
(7/10) Daniel Palencia has recorded 10 of the Cubs' last 11 saves, and while he's been very impressive for Chicago, his stability is still a question mark for a team with World Series aspirations. Palencia has yet to reach 100 big-league innings - he's current sitting on 74.2 - so the Cubs are likely to be active on the relief pitcher market for veterans with closing experience. Relievers with that profile appear to be widely available this summer, so the odds of Palencia remaining the Cubs' closer through the playoffs are low. He's likely to maintain a high-leverage role, just not in the 9th-inning. As such, fantasy managers could look to sell-high on Palencia while he's still the Cubs' closer.

Team: Cincinnati Reds
Total Saves: 24
Closer: Emilio Pagan
Next in Line: Tony Santillan , Graham Ashcraft
(7/10) Emilio Pagan was presumed to be filling in at closer while Alexis Diaz was sidelined by a hamstring injury, but Diaz struggled after coming off the injured list, was demoted to the minors and eventually traded. Since then, Pagan has built some security as the Reds' closer, securing 19 of the team's 22 saves through early July. What keeps his stability on the low-end is his contract status - he's a free-agent after this season - combined with Cincinnati's placement in the NL Central and Wild Card standings. After a recent 4-game losing streak, the Reds are currently 7.5 games back in the NL Central and 3.5 games out of a Wild Card spot. They'll have to run hot over the next few weeks with upcoming series against the Rockies, Mets, Nationals, Rays and Dodgers leading up until the trade deadline - otherwise they'll become likely sellers. Pagan, Taylor Rogers and Scott Barlow would all become candidates to be traded, with Pagan obviously the best of the three. The right-hander's home run rate has always been an issue, but he doesn't walk many batters and has a strikeout rate over 30 percent. If the Reds do go into sell-mode and trade away Pagan, Rogers and Barlow, they could turn to Graham Ashcraft or Tony Santillan to close games. Rookie Luis Mey may also be a dark horse for saves at some point in the near future, as the right-hander has closing experience in the minors, and his pedigree as one of the organization's top prospects should help him get high-leverage chances. For now, Pagan is the clear No. 1 option for saves - at least for the next few weeks.

Team: Cleveland Guardians
Total Saves: 29
Closer: Emmanuel Clase
Next in Line: Cade Smith , Hunter Gaddis
(7/11) Emmanuel Clase has been the best closer in baseball over the past few seasons, but he labored during last year's playoffs and those struggles carried over into the first month of the 2025 campaign. However, since May 1, Clase has allowed just 4 ER over 27 innings, recording an impressive 1.33 ERA, 0.96 WHIP and 26:7 K:BB over that span. Cade Smith picked up 3 consecutive saves for the Guardians back in late-April, but Clase's stability is no longer in question. Another positive sign is Clase's 16.3% swinging strike percentage - his best mark since 2022. While that has yet to translate into an elite K-rate (22.9%), he continues to limit the number of free passes he allows. The reigning AL Reliever of Year has been rumored to be on the trade block, so it will be interesting to see if Cleveland deals him before the upcoming trade deadline. If Clase does get traded, Paul Sewald - who has a $10M mutual option for 2026 with a $1M buyout - is likely to join him, meaning Cade Smith would likely step in as the Guardians' closer.

- 7/1:Emmanuel Clase has appeared in each of the last 3 games. It's likely that Eli Morgan or Trevor Stephan would receive a save chance if one were to arise tonight against the Yankees.

Team: Colorado Rockies
Total Saves: 18
Closer: Seth Halvorsen
(7/11) Seth Halvorsen has recorded 5 of the Rockies' past 6 saves and 6-of-9 since June 1. The hard-throwing righty leads the team with 8 saves overall, but Colorado has struggled to win games this season - they are dead-last in MLB with 21 wins through mid-July - thus tempering his stability and upside. Halvorsen imploded during an appearance against Boston on July 9, but figures to maintain a fairly decent leash on closing duties. Tyler Kinley is next in line for saves in Colorado, while Victor Vodnik has the best ratios among Rockies relievers. Meanwhile, Jake Bird - who leads the team with 10 holds - figures to draw trade interest over the coming weeks.

Team: Chicago White Sox
Total Saves: 13
Closer: Grant Taylor
Next in Line: Jordan Leasure , Steven Wilson
(7/11) Grant Taylor has picked up 3 of the White Sox last 5 saves and now leads the team in the category, but the exciting right-hander recently made an appearance where he was used in the eighth inning against the top of the Blue Jays' lineup. Clearly, he's Chicago's highest-leveraged reliever and current favorite for saves, but this type of usage may result in some non-save outings. Combine this with the team's poor record and it's tough to get excited about Taylor's save upside. On the plus side, he's Chicago's most dominant reliever, leading that group with a near-30% strikeout rate while barely walking any batters. Jordan Leasure stands to be next in line for saves after recording the most recent one - he also leads the club with 9 holds.

Team: Detroit Tigers
Total Saves: 28
Closer: Will Vest
Next in Line: Tommy Kahnle , Tyler Holton
(7/11) Detroit's closing situation was one of the blurriest in the league to begin the season, but Will Vest has settled in as the clear top option in the Tigers' bullpen. Vest didn't collect his first save of 2025 until April 19, but he's recorded 10 of the Tigers' last 13 saves and has 15 overall through mid-July. Tommy Kahnle ranks second on the team with 9 saves and leads the Tigers with 12 holds. Both pitchers have maintained excellent ratios, as does Brant Hurter who has picked up a couple of three-inning saves for Detroit. Tyler Holton has not pitched to expectations thus far, but remains an important leverage reliever. As good as Vest and Kahnle have been this season, look for Detroit to possibly be active on the relief market over the next few weeks.

Team: Houston Astros
Total Saves: 33
Closer: Josh Hader
Next in Line: Bryan Abreu , Kaleb Ort
(7/11) Josh Hader's stability as the Astros' closer is as high as it comes compared to other closers in the league. He's currently tied for 2nd with 25 saves through mid-July and leads qualified relievers with a 33.5% K-BB percentage. While his velocity is down slightly on his offerings, he continues to be effective with his 95 mph sinker while throwing more sliders (41% usage, a +13% difference from 2024). Bryan Abreu is the clear backup for closing duties and the team could be looking to add even more high-leverage depth in the coming weeks prior to the trade deadline.

- 7/1:Ryan Pressly has recorded a Save in each of the past 2 days. He has yet to work 3 games in a row this season, so it's likely a save chance would go to Rafael Montero on Friday.
- 9/29:Ryan Pressly is currently managing a knee issue and hasn't pitched since Saturday. Kendall Graveman was placed on the paternity list Tuesday. Look for Ryne Stanek or Yimi Garcia as the favorites to pitch in potential save opportunities for the next couple days if Pressley remains unavailable.

Team: Kansas City Royals
Total Saves: 29
Closer: Carlos Estevez
Next in Line: Lucas Erceg , John Schreiber
(7/11) Carlos Estevez is among the league leaders with 25 saves (T-2nd) through mid-July. Estevez - who inked a two-year, $20.2 million contract in late January - has pitched well for the Royals with a 2.03 ERA, 1.05 WHIP and 33:14 K:BB over 40 innings. He currently sports an 89% team save share, while Lucas Erceg has typically taken on the highest-leverage spots prior to the ninth inning. Erceg recorded his lone save of the season in late April, but he has 16 holds and should be among the league leaders in that category by the end of the season. Hunter Harvey (shoulder), who was also acquired by Kansas City ahead of last summer's trade deadline, started off the campaign with 5.1 scoreless frames but is out due to a shoulder strain without a clear timeline to return. John Schreiber also continues to perform in a high-leverage role and has 10 holds with a 3.34 ERA and 38 strikeouts across 35 innings.

Team: Los Angeles Angels
Total Saves: 23
Closer: Kenley Jansen
Next in Line: Reid Detmers , Ryan Zeferjahn
(7/11) Kenley Jansen's stability took a slight hit during the month of May, but he's rebounded since then with a 1.65 ERA, 0.86 WHIP and 19:4 K:BB across his last 16.1 innings. The veteran right-hander went a few weeks without recording a save, but ended that draught recently and has 16 saves (15th) through mid-July, giving him a chance to reach 30 saves for the first time since 2022. With Ben Joyce (shoulder) out for the year, Reid Detmers figures to be next-in-line, as he's logged the first 2 saves of his career last month. Ryan Zeferjahn picked up a save earlier this year, but has struggled of late, while Robert Stephenson (biceps) could join the high-leverage mix once he returns from the IL. With the Angels in contention for an AL Wild Card spot - they're currently 4 games back - they might actually keep Jansen through the trade deadline, even though he's a free-agent at the end of the season. However, if they fall further back in the standings over the next few weeks, he'd make for an obvious trade candidate.

Team: Los Angeles Dodgers
Total Saves: 30
Closer: Tanner Scott 15-Day IL
Next in Line: Kirby Yates , Alex Vesia
(7/11) The Dodgers have yet to record a save through the first week-and-a-half of July, thanks in large part to a recent 6-game losing streak. However, Tanner Scott recorded 8 of the team's 10 saves last month, further solidifying his role as Los Angeles' closer. Scott leads the team with 18 saves with no one else recording more than three. It's clear he's their closer even though he may cede the occasional save chance to Kirby Yates or Alex Vesia. Since Scott signed a large multi-year deal with the team in the offseason, he's likely to remain the Dodgers' closer even if they add an arm or two at the trade deadline.

Team: Miami Marlins
Total Saves: 25
Closer: Ronny Henriquez
Next in Line: Calvin Faucher , Anthony Bender
(7/18) Heading into the second half of the season, Calvin Faucher leads the Marlins with 8 saves (36.4% team save share), but Ronny Henriquez has recently gained some traction in the ninth-inning, picking up 3 of the team's last 5 saves. Faucher hasn't recorded a save since June 24 and has permitted 5 ERs across 6.2 innings since then. Meanwhile, Henriquez is the most talented reliever in Miami, posting a 33.5% strikeout rate with 17.3% swinging strike percentage. He is the favorite to lead the Marlins in saves during the second half, especially if the Anthony Bender trade rumors come to fruition.

Total Saves: 28
Closer: Trevor Megill
(7/18) Not only has Trevor Megill managed to stay healthy in 2025, he's tied for 5th in the league with 21 saves through the All-Star break. Megill has an 84% team save share, holding off the exciting Abner Uribe and underrated Nick Mears for ninth-inning responsibilities. Uribe in particular has a 32% strikeout rate and leads MLB with 27 holds. He's worth monitoring as a potential closer-in-waiting should Megill's durability issues resurface. With Milwaukee currently in the thick of the playoff race in the National League, the Brewers could even add to its bullpen at the trade deadline. There's a risk that roles could change based on potential acquisitions, but this is Megill's job for now.

(7/18) Minnesota is 25th in the league with 19 saves through the All-Star break, but there are currently no questions as to who the Twins' closer is. Jhoan Duran has 15 of those saves for a 79% team save share that's currently the highest mark of his career to date. Duran has yet to allow a home run through 43.1 innings in 2025 and he's maintained excellent ratios while still averaging triple-digits on his fastball. Surprisingly, Griffin Jax has yet to pick up a save this season after securing 10 last year. Jax sports a 38% K-rate and leads the Twins with 20 holds. He's 19-for-20 in save chances in 2025 and is well on his way to posting the 5th 30-save season of his career. Meanwhile, Reed Garrett and Huascar Brazoban have been solid contributors in setup roles this season, but their roles may fluctuate in the coming weeks, as New York figures to be active on the relief pitcher market near the trade deadline. Team: New York Yankees
Total Saves: 27
Closer: Devin Williams
(7/18) Devin Williams entered the campaign as arguably the most dominant reliever in baseball since making his debut in 2020, but his first month-and-a-half with the Yankees was a disaster. Manager Aaron Boone removed him from the closer role, allowing Luke Weaver to reclaim the job he held during the end of the 2024 campaign and throughout last year's playoffs. However, Weaver suffered a hamstring injury in June that allowed Williams to return the closer role where he's most comfortable. Williams has been outstanding since reclaiming the job, posting a 1.98 ERA, 0.59 WHIP and 18:2 K:BB across 13.2 innings while going a perfect 8-for-8 in save chances. He doesn't appear to be ceding the closer role anytime soon, even if the Yankees are active on the relief pitcher market in the coming weeks.

- 6/29:Aroldis Chapman is likely to return Friday.
- 10/5:Entering tonight's AL Wild Card game, Aroldis Chapman has a career 6.43 ERA and 2.07 WHIP in 14 innings at Fenway Park. However, he logged a 2.70 ERA against Boston this season with a 8:4 K:BB in 6.2 innings, albeit with two home runs allowed.
- 9/29:Jonathan Loaisiga (shoulder) will likely be activated Wednesday.

Team: Philadelphia Phillies
Total Saves: 27
Closer: Committee
(7/18) Philadelphia figures to be very active on the relief pitcher market in the coming weeks, as two of their key high-leverage relievers have not pitched to expectations in 2025. Jose Alvarado dominated out the gate before he was handed an 80-game suspension, while Jordan Romano has struggled to a 7.29 ERA and 1.50 WHIP through the All-Star break. Matt Strahm and Orion Kerkering have been solid during their ascension to the top of the Phillies' hierarchy for saves, but it's clear this team needs a reliable closer. Roles are expected to fluctuate based on performance and potential trades in the coming weeks.

Team: Pittsburgh Pirates
Total Saves: 21
Closer: David Bednar
Next in Line: Dennis Santana , Isaac Mattson
(7/18) David Bednar has been the topic of trade rumors in recent years, but the Pirates have been reluctant to trade the Pittsburgh native thus far. Bednar got off to a disastrous start in 2025 that resulted in a surprising demotion to the minors, but the two-time All-Star has been outstanding since returning to the big leagues. Since mid-April, he's compiled a 1.74 ERA, 0.97 WHIP and 44:7 K:BB across 31 innings. Bednar is under team control through 2026 and should be one of the most sought-after closers on the market over the next few weeks. With Dennis Santana also a trade candidate (he's a free-agent after this season), Isaac Mattson is worth monitoring as a potential source of second-half saves, as he's posted a 0.89 WHIP and 28.8% K-rate through 19 innings.

(7/18) Robert Suarez stumbled a bit during the month of June (7.84 ERA, 1.74 WHIP), but has maintained respectable ratios and high stability as the Padres' closer, leading the league with 28 saves through the All-Star break. The right-hander carries a modest 5-game scoreless streak into the second half, upon which he looks to maintain his MLB lead in the saves category. Jason Adam has yet to record a save in 2025, but leads San Diego with 23 holds. Jeremiah Estrada has picked up 3 ancillary saves and is right behind Adam with 21 holds. Adrian Morejon has remained healthy and has been a standout performer (0.82 WHIP through 43.2 innings) thus far. The Padres' bullpen is a clear strength, but general manager A.J. The Mariners only recorded 2 saves during the month of June, but Munoz's stability remains high under new manager Dan Wilson. The right-hander has a 91.3% team save share and went more than 2 months before allowing his first earned runs of the season. Matt Brash, who made his season-debut May 3rd after a lost 2024 campaign, has been outstanding as he settles back into setup duties for the Mariners. Team: San Francisco Giants
Total Saves: 26
Closer: Camilo Doval
Next in Line: Randy Rodriguez , Ryan Walker
(7/18) Ryan Walker opened the campaign as San Francisco's primary closer, but he and Camilo Doval eventually settled into a committee before manager Bob Melvin officially named Doval as the club's closer on May 28. Since that date, Doval has secured 10 of the Giants' last 11 saves, though his results have been middling after a dominant start to the 2025 campaign. The right-hander had a 1.50 ERA and 0.93 WHIP on June 8, a little over a month later they are at 2.95 and 1.20, respectively. Meanwhile, Walker has been unable to replicate the 1.91 ERA he posted last season, but has pitched much better in a setup capacity (2.95 ERA, 0.71 WHIP, 18:2 K:BB across 18.1 innings). Randy Rodriguez has supplanted Walker as the Giants' primary setup man, as the right-hander has struck out batters at a 35.3% clip. Rodriguez makes a ton of sense as a speculative closer-in-waiting given Doval's inconsistency over the past year-and-a-half.

- 5/18:Camilo Doval has recorded a save in 3 straight games for San Francisco. The Giants are off on Thursday, but Doval may get a breather on Friday after his recent heavy usage.
- 10/4:The Giants bullpen gets a much-needed break after winning the NL West. Camilo Doval, in particular, pitched 4 times in 5 days during the final week.
- 10/1:Doval, Rogers and Leone have worked 2 out of the past 3 games, with Rogers throwing 47 pitches over that span. Strong possibility Rogers gets the night off against San Diego.
- 9/30:Doval earned his 2nd big-league save on Wednesday and may be the new closer in San Francisco.
- 9/29:The plans for Jake McGee (oblique) beyond Wednesday aren't entirely clear, but so long as he gets through mound work without any setbacks, a return to the Giants' bullpen for the final regular-season series against the Padres might not be out of the question.

Team: St. Louis Cardinals
Total Saves: 25
Closer: Ryan Helsley
Next in Line: Phil Maton , Kyle Leahy
(7/18) After leading MLB with 49 saves to go along with 2.04 ERA last season, Ryan Helsley is currently tied for 9th in the league with 19 saves through the All-Star break. Helsley's performance has suffered a bit in the first half as his 1.42 WHIP could stand to improve, but figures to draw plenty of interest on the trade market over the next few weeks. The reigning NL Reliever of the Year is in the final year of his contract, but St. Louis is currently in contention for an NL Wild Card spot, so the team may elect to hang onto Helsley. Phil Maton is another Cardinals reliever who will be a free-agent next season. If St. Louis does sell, it will likely be at the last minute and high-leverage roles would fluctuate. Kyle Leahy, JoJo Romero and Riley O'Brien would be candidates to step into the closer role if Helsley and Maton are traded.

- 10/6:The Cardinals' highest-leverage relievers are well rested, as Gallegos, Cabrera and Reyes enter Wednesday's NL Wild Card game against the Dodgers on 4 days rest, while Garcia is on 3 days rest.
- 10/1:Garcia earned his 2nd save of the season Thursday night as the Cardinals give Gallegos some much deserved rest before the playoffs. Gallegos has logged a new career-high 79.1 innings this season.

Team: Tampa Bay Rays
Total Saves: 23
Closer: Pete Fairbanks
Next in Line: Bryan Baker , Garrett Cleavinger
(7/18) Fairbanks has secured 15 of Tampa Bay's 21 saves through the All-Star break, which speaks to his stability in the closer role after recording a 70 percent team save share when healthy last season. The right-hander isn't striking many batters out with just a 20.7% K-rate alongside a poor 10% walk rate, but he's pitched well otherwise with a 2.75 ERA (2.96 FIP). With back-to-back seasons of 20-plus saves, injuries have been Fairbanks' main concern, as he has yet to make 50 appearances in a campaign across six full-length regular seasons, so he seems likely to hit the shelf at some point in 2025. Eric Orze is the only other Rays reliever with multiple saves for the team (3), while the newly acquired Bryan Baker gives Tampa Bay another capable ninth-inning arm should Fairbanks get hurt.

- 10/11:Collin McHugh will serve as the Rays' opening pitcher Monday against the Red Sox as part of a bullpen day in Game 4 of the ALDS, Manager Kevin Cash hasn't appointed a primary pitcher to work behind McHugh, as the Rays will instead likely turn to a cadre of arms to fill innings out of the bullpen. Josh Fleming, JT Chargois, Pete Fairbanks, J.P. Feyereisen, Andrew Kittredge and Matt Wisler tossed 20 pitches or fewer in Sunday's 13-inning loss, so the Tampa Bay bullpen should be relatively fresh for Monday's contest.

Team: Texas Rangers
Total Saves: 27
Closer: Robert Garcia
(7/23) Luke Jackson opened 2025 as the Rangers' closer and leads the team with 9 saves through late-July, but was recently DFA'd, leaving Robert Garcia and Shawn Armstrong the current favorites for save chances in Texas. Garcia is second on the team with 7 saves through late-July, recording the Rangers' most recent save. He currently sits atop this hierarchy, especially with Chris Martin (calf) expected to miss 4-to-6 weeks of action.

Team: Toronto Blue Jays
Total Saves: 31
Closer: Jeff Hoffman
(7/18) After inking a three-year, $33 million contract with the Blue Jays in January, Hoffman has racked up 22 of the team's 28 saves through the All-Star break for a 78.5% team save share. Hoffman's 32.7% K-rate and 6.8% walk percentage are well above league average and his 39.5% chase rate is a 100th percentile metric per Statcast. Hoffman's ERA is inflated after allowing 9 home runs across 39.1 innings, but his underlying metrics combined with Toronto's success this season make him a top-10 closer over the rest of the season. With Yimi Garcia (shoulder) still ailing, it's possible the Blue Jays add to its bullpen over the next few weeks. Roles could fluctuate - including Hoffman's if the team surprises us by adding a top-end closer - but that seems unlikely since Brendon Little, Yariel Rodriguez and Chad Green have formed a solid bridge to Hoffman in the ninth inning.

Team: Washington Nationals
Total Saves: 20
Closer: Kyle Finnegan
Next in Line: Jose Ferrer , Cole Henry
(7/18) After finishing third in the league with 38 saves last year, Nationals' closer Kyle Finnegan is sitting on 18 saves through the All-Star break. Unfortunately, he hasn't recorded a save in a month-and-a-half as Washington has stumbled to a 10-28 record since June 1. Finnegan does have a 95% team save share, but his middling ratios aren't what you'd like to see from a closer. Yet, his stability as the Nationals' closer will remain high until closer to the trade deadline, where is name may be on the block for a playoff contender in need of a high-leverage arm. Jose Ferrer hasn't pitched well this season, but leads the team with 17 holds and represents a likely next-man-up if Finnegan falters or is traded.

- 9/23:Tanner Rainey earned the save for the Nationals last night and has worked 3 out of the last 4 games. Expect Kyle Finnegan, who hasn't pitched since Sept. 19, to get the save chance if one presents itself against the Cardinals tonight.
