Cleavinger was the top lefty out of Tampa Bay's bullpen in 2024, which occasionally led to save chances when closer Pete Fairbanks was unavailable and as matchups dictated. The 30-year-old recorded six saves (second on the Rays) along with 15 holds, demonstrating his prowess in high-leverage. The southpaw racked up career-highs in games played (68), innings (60) and strikeouts (71), all more than he recorded from 2020 through 2023 combined. He also added a cutter and sweeper to his arsenal last season while relying far less on his sinker, which unexpectedly got crushed by opposing hitters. 2024 Fantasy Outlook
Cleavinger, who underwent surgery in May to repair a torn ACL and meniscus in his right knee, is expected to be fully healthy for spring training. Prior to the injury, the southpaw was expected to secure a high-leverage role in the Rays' bullpen and compiled a respectable 3.00 ERA, 1.00 WHIP and 14:6 K:BB ratio over 12 innings. The 29-year-old has not tallied any saves or holds through 55 career appearances, but that should change in 2024 if health permits and he keeps his walks (11 percent for his career) down.
