2024 Fantasy Outlook
Vest battled mechanical issues last spring and didn't break camp with the Tigers, but was recalled in late-April to fill a multi-inning relief role. The 28-year-old righty seemingly fixed what he was struggling with because he posted a 2.98 ERA (3.11 xERA), 1.10 WHIP and 56:13 K:BB ratio over 48.1 innings. A leg strain sidelined the Texas native for a month-and-a-half during the summer, but he returned in mid-August and closed out the season strong. He posted a 1.32 ERA, 0.51 WHIP and 20:1 K:BB over the final month (13.2 innings) and finished the campaign with two saves and 11 holds. Vest's flexibility to work as an opener, multi-inning reliever or setup man should afford him a spot in the Tigers' 2024 bullpen, especially after recording above-average strikeout and walk rates last year. Earns win in wild game
Vest (2-3) tossed a scoreless inning of relief to earn the win in Saturday's 11-9, 10-inning victory over the Dodgers. He walked one and struck out one.
ANALYSIS
Vest was the last of six Detroit pitchers to appear in the contest, and he calmly navigated the top of the 10th inning on 12 pitches before Gio Urshela ended the game with a walk-off homer in the bottom half. The veteran righty has been solid once again this season with a 3.27 ERA and 36 strikeouts across 41.1 innings. Vest should continue to work in a high-leverage setup role for the Tigers ahead of Jason Foley, though it's a fairly fluid bullpen, and Vest could see some save opportunities down the stretch if Foley stumbles.

2023 Fantasy Outlook
Vest got off to a brilliant start last season, holding a 1.57 ERA and 28:7 K:BB across 23 innings covering his first 20 appearances. He then posted a 5.40 ERA the rest of the way, even earning a trip back to the minors at one point. More consistency will be needed for the 27-year-old to be trusted in high-leverage situations, but a 49.7 percent ground ball rate and a strikeout per inning will play.

Darkhorse to be traded?
Vest could generate significant trade interest if the Tigers are willing to offload him, reports Evan Woodbery of MLive.com.
ANALYSIS
The 29-year-old isn't eligible for free agency until after the 2027 campaign and has been one of Detroit's most reliable relievers over the past two seasons with a 3.02 ERA, 1.17 WHIP and 94:25 K:BB across 92.1 innings. That may make the club less likely to trade him, but the Tigers could also look to sell high given the volatile nature of relief pitchers.
