2025 Fantasy Outlook
Vasil couldn't break through as a starting pitcher the past couple seasons while working at Triple-A as a member of the Mets, most recently logging a 6.04 ERA, 1.54 WHIP and 109:52 K:BB in 134 innings over 29 appearances for Triple-A Syracuse. The Phillies took him in the Rule 5 draft and then flipped him to the Rays for cash. Vasil will probably work as a lower-leverage reliever initially in the majors if he is not returned to the Mets. It will be worth tracking if the Rays can unlock something with the former prospect of note via a changed role and/or pitch mix. Read Past Outlooks

Collects third save
Vasil earned the save in Sunday's 3-2 victory over the Yankees, pitching a clean inning with one strikeout.
Analysis
The White Sox right-hander fired 12 pitches, eight of which were strikes, to succinctly close out this contest. Vasil became the fourth different Chicago reliever to tally a save in August, with Jordan Leasure, Grant Taylor and Steven Wilson all also notching saves during the month while the team employs a closer-by-committee approach. Vasil has been a dependable arm with a 2.50 ERA, 1.22 WHIP and 72:45 K:BB across 90 total frames and should continue to garner occasional save opportunities.

2024 Fantasy Outlook
A 6-foot-5 righty with a bulldog mentality, Vasil gets the most of his four-pitch mix and logged 124 innings across Double-A and Triple-A. He had a sparkling 24.9 K-BB% and 0.84 WHIP in 10 starts at Double-A and then struggled with the automated balls and strikes system at Triple-A to the tune of a 13.2 K-BB% and 1.48 WHIP. His four-seamer sits at 93 mph and can touch as high as 97 mph, while his 86-mph slider is his lone true plus offering. He had a 21 percent swinging-strike rate on the pitch at Triple-A, and he also had some success with his average changeup. Vasil's curveball is a fringe-average pitch. Poised to make his big-league debut sometime this season, Vasil will benefit from spacious Citi Field. He projects as a No. 4 or No. 5 starter who eats innings, but Vasil could exceed that projection with improved command or if his changeup jumps a grade.
