2025 Fantasy Outlook
With plenty of recent turnover in the Nationals bullpen, Ferrer is suddenly one of the team's top options for 2025 save chances. The 24-year-old southpaw was one of Washington's better relievers in 2024, though he only tallied six holds, one win and one save across his 31 appearances. The sinker-baller throws hard (98 mph on average), and while he doesn't strike out many batters, he carries a 57.3 percent groundball rate that would have been a top-20 mark among relievers if he pitched enough innings to qualify. Ferrer significantly improved his walk rate last year - from 9.2 percent in 2023 to 4.7 percent. If this sticks for 2025, regular save chances are possible. He's worth a late dart in drafts, especially if Washington doesn't add to its bullpen over the coming months. Read Past Outlooks

Nabs win Wednesday
Ferrer (3-3) picked up the win Wednesday over the A's, striking out one in a perfect ninth inning.
Analysis
The southpaw got the call to protect a 1-1 tie in the ninth and dispatched the bottom of the A's order on 12 pitches (10 strikes). Ferrer was then rewarded for his efforts when CJ Abrams walked it off with an RBI single in the bottom of the frame. The Nationals haven't had a save situation since Kyle Finnegan was traded to the Tigers, but Ferrer's usage Wednesday suggests he'll be first in line to handle closing duties when needed. Since the beginning of July, Ferrer's posted a 3.48 ERA, 1.26 WHIP and 11:2 K:BB over 10.1 innings.
