Sam Long News: Opts for free agency

Long elected to become a free agent Friday.

The Royals booted Long off their 40-man roster and he has decided to test out free agency rather than accepting an outright assignment. Long pitched well for Kansas City in 2024 but struggled in 2025, posting a 5.36 ERA and 33:22 K:BB over 40.1 innings.
