Tony Blanco Injury: Ready for rehab assignment

Blanco (leg) joined the Pirates' rookie-level Florida Complex League affiliate Saturday to begin a rehab assignment, Anthony Murphy of DKPittsburghSports.com reports.

Blanco has been on the shelf at Single-A Bradenton all season due to a leg injury, but he should be ready to return from the 60-day injured list shortly after the All-Star break. The first baseman has excellent power potential but will need to display the ability to make more consistent contact to eventually make an impact at the big-league level down the road.
