Drew Mestemaker News: Costly turnovers in loss

Mestemaker was 21-for-34 passing for 294 yards, two touchdowns and three interceptions during Friday's 34-21 loss versus Tulane. He also had 11 rushes for 14 yards.

The redshirt freshman quarterback showed flashes of command with nearly 300 yards and a pair of touchdown strikes, but the three interceptions proved costly and stalled multiple potential scoring drives. The 6-foot-3 signal-caller battled throughout, connecting on chunk plays and keeping the game within reach despite constant pressure. Overall, Mestemaker enjoyed a good campaign, completing 292 of 418 passes (69.9 percent) for 4,119 yards, 31 touchdowns and seven interceptions across 13 outings.
