Gio Lopez Injury: Expected to return to Chapel Hill

Lopez (leg) is expected to return to UNC for the 2026 season, Pete Nakos of On3.com reports.

Lopez finished the season sidelined due to a leg injury, but he's widely expected to return to the program in 2026 to work as the starting quarterback once again. Lopez completed 65.1 percent of his throws in 2025 for 1,747 yards while posting a 10:5 TD:INT across 11 games.
