Jack Layne News: Unimpressive during bowl

Layne was 14-for-25 passing for 88 yards and one interception during Friday's 20-17 overtime loss to Minnesota. He also had 10 rushes for two yards.

For 2025, Layne transferred colleges from Idaho to New Mexico for his first season of FBS football. To go with four rushing touchdowns, he logged 213 completed passes for 2,486 yards and 13 TDs. However, Layne barely completed more than 65.0 percent of 327 pass attempts for a 13-10 TD-INT ratio, significantly worse than the 14-4 he logged during Idaho's 2024 season.
