Noah Whittington News: Earns starting tailback role
Whittington reportedly won the starting running back job in training camp, and that was reflected in his team-high 10 carries for 68 yards, per Aaron Fentress of The Oregonian.
Whittington was expected to be involved on the ground for the Ducks after rushing for 540 yards and six touchdowns on 118 carries as a backup last season. However, when Oregon brought in Tulane transfer tailback Makhi Hughes, many figured the former Green Wave star would become the Ducks' starting tailback. Nonetheless, Whittington won the job in fall camp and his very first carry of the season was a 35-yard scamper against Montana State.
