Peyton Krebs

23-Year-Old CenterC
Buffalo Sabres
2024 Fantasy Outlook
The former No. 17 overall pick by Vegas in 2019, Krebs simply hasn't been able to find his offensive game over parts of four NHL seasons. He was a regular for the Sabres last year, appearing in 80 of the club's 82 regular-season games, but Krebs managed just four goals and 17 points during that span. A career-low 5.4 percent shooting percentage can explain part of the lack of production, but even in an ideal year, it's difficult to see Krebs finishing with more than 10-12 goals barring a significant change in his role. That seems highly unlikely at this point. Read Past Outlooks

Scores in Monday's loss
CBuffalo Sabres
November 12, 2024
Krebs scored a goal on two shots in Monday's 7-5 loss to the Canadiens.
ANALYSIS
Krebs has two points over his last three games, but offense is likely to remain sporadic for him as long as he's on the fourth line. The 23-year-old center is up to five points, 10 shots on net, 25 hits and 13 PIM over 15 appearances. Krebs could help in deep fantasy formats that reward his physical playing style.

Past Fantasy Outlooks
2023
2022
Krebs accounted for nine goals and 26 points in 74 games with the Sabres in 2022-23. He spent most of his first full NHL season on the fourth line, which contributed to his lackluster contributions in the attacking zone. Krebs also got off to a sluggish start with just three assists in 19 outings to begin the year. He should be able to improve his offensive output in 2023-24, especially if he moves up to the third line. Still, Krebs may struggle again with consistency and he isn't much of a shot generator, so fantasy managers should steer clear of the 22-year-old forward going into this season.
The No. 17 overall pick of the Golden Knights in 2019, Krebs was traded to Buffalo in early November as part of the Jack Eichel deal. He was a regular in the Buffalo lineup late in the season, ultimately finishing with seven goals and 22 points in 57 games between the two teams. Ten of Krebs' points came with the man advantage, so it will be interesting to see if he can continue to produce at such a high rate in that department. Krebs won't turn 22 years old until late January and remains a far more intriguing dynasty/keeper stash than redraft fantasy target.

Poised to sign two-year extension
CBuffalo Sabres
September 17, 2024
Krebs is expected to sign a two-year, $2.9 million contract extension with the Sabres, Elliotte Friedman of Sportsnet reports Tuesday.
ANALYSIS
Krebs failed to reach the 20-point threshold last year, the first time he has missed that mark in his three-year NHL career. The 23-year-old center could see an uptick in offensive productivity if he can force his way onto the No. 2 power-play unit but probably still shouldn't be counted on to produce significantly beyond the 20-30 point range.
