Mainoo suffered a calf injury in training and is set to miss some time, coach Ruben Amorim said to the media. "He got an injury in the last training. After training, he went to the doctor. He got something in his calf. We are going to assess but he is out of this game. Of course [it is bad timing], not just for the team but for him to have this problem. These are reminders that we need to focus on everything we can control and leave the rest to the destiny. He is going to be fine in the few weeks, I think, I don't know. Let's focus on the players that we have and are ready to play."

Mainoo will miss some time after suffering a calf injury in training ahead of Sunday's clash against Aston Villa. The midfielder has logged 212 minutes in the Premier League this season, far fewer than last campaign, having lost his starting role in midfield and with growing doubts about his future as a Red Devil. This new setback could open the door to a potential exit from the club during the winter transfer window.
