Closer Watch

Chicago Cubs - Travis Wood notched his second save of the season Thursday, tossing two scoreless innings and striking out five of the six batters he faced. The southpaw has pitched extremely well recently, not allowing a run in any of his last five appearances, which went a total of 7.1 innings. However, Hector Rondon remains the everyday closer for the club, and should receive most of the opportunities the rest of the way.

Baltimore Orioles - Darren O'Day collected his third save of the season Thursday, setting down each of the three Rays hitters in order on 14 pitches. He only received the opportunity because normal closer Zach Britton was unavailable after pitching three times earlier in the week. He was reportedly available again Friday, and would most likely come in for a save situation should it be required.

Recommended Pickup

Cliff Pennington, SS, TOR - Following the shoulder issue to Troy Tulowitzki that is set to cost him 2-3 weeks, Pennington has taken on an everyday role in the middle infield alongside Ryan Goins. He's taken advantage of that opportunity, batting .269/./.367/.500 with two home runs and seven RBI in the past seven days. He will continue to play in a potent Blue Jays lineup while Tulowitzki is sidelined.
Other Recent Recommendations:Tommy Pham, Kelby Tomlinson, Nolan Reimold, Corey Seager, Steven Souza and Colby Rasmus

P: Jordan Zimmermann, WAS ($9,200)
C: Wilson Ramos, WAS ($3,000)
1B: Justin Morneau, COL ($3,100)
2B: Scooter Gennett, MIL ($3,100)
3B: Travis Shaw, BOS ($3,400)
SS: Tim Beckham, TB ($2,500)
OF: Alex Rios, KC ($3,400)
