Closer Watch - A closer look at intriguing ninth-inning situations (also check out our Closer Grid)

Atlanta - Craig Kimbrel has been nothing but a fantasy beast over the last few weeks. In 17.0 innings since June 14, Kimbrel has given up four hits, walked six, and struck out 29 batters. He has also picked up 12 saves since that date, giving him a league-leading 30 for the season. Kimbrel is making a strong push for the National League Rookie of the Year Award.

Los Angeles (AL) - Jordan Walden struggled a bit at the end of June, but he has been lights out in the month of July. In 5.1 innings over six appearances, Walden has allowed just three hits while posting a 4:0 K:BB ratio. He has also picked up a win and five saves, the most recent which came Thursday to lock up a 1-0 victory over the streaking Rangers. Walden's job is plenty secure.

Recommended Pickup

Edward Mujica, RP, FLA - Though he remains in a setup role for the time being, Mujica can help your fantasy team right now - and he could pay even bigger dividends down the road. Mujica currently owns a 2.85 ERA, a sparkling 0.87 WHIP, and a dominant 35:5 K:BB ratio, but his most impressive stat may be the team-leading eight wins he has picked up in relief. Those numbers make Mujica one of the more valuable non-closers as things stand, and Friday's announcement that Mujica would take over as the closer if Leo Nunez is traded means he could become much more valuable, and much less available, by the end of July. Mujica is only owned in a few leagues, so if are still looking for potential closers, he is worth a speculative add if you have an open roster spot.
