Day-to-Day (includes players expected to make their return from the DL)
Scott Feldman, RP, TEX – (Finger) Blister forced him out of Friday's game. May go on DL.
J.J. Hardy, SS, BAL – (Ankle) Not in the lineup Saturday, for second straight day.
Chris Davis, 1B, BAL – (Shoulder) Out for a second straight day Saturday.

Chris Heisey, OF, CIN – (Oblique) Sitting out a third straight game Saturday. Extent of injury unknown.
Juan Nicasio, SP, COL – (Neck) Underwent surgery to repair a vertebrae in his neck Saturday after getting beaned on a line drive comeback hit and getting hospitalized Friday. Remain hospitalized and the invasiveness of the surgery is unknown.
Brandon Phillips, 2B, CIN – (Ankle) removed from the Saturday's game in the fifth inning. May have just been a precautionary move.

Derrek Lee, 1B, PIT – (Hand) Not in the lineup Saturday. Continues to have a sore hand.

Players on the DL

Brandon Webb, RP/SP, TEX – (Shoulder) Hasn't pitched since Opening Day in 2009. Underwent another surgery Wednesday. Will start rehabbing in six weeks. Why do we even bother to cover this guy? He's injured. Anyone surprised?

Closer Watch – A closer look at intriguing ninth-inning situations (also check out our Closer Grid)

Chicago Cubs – After a brief stay from the closer role to get his delivery fixed, Carlos Marmol has recorded five consecutive successful save opportunities. I hope you didn't overreact and drop him.

Chicago White Sox – Chris Sale earned the save Friday. Manager Ozzie Guillen doesn't appear committed to any one pitcher as his closer. Beyond Sergio Santos holding the figurative title of closer right now, Matt Thornton and Sale have now also been used in the role. Don't know what to tell you here. Bank on Santos getting the bulk of the opportunities, but don't be surprised if Guillen plays the matchups.

St. Louis – Lance Lynn earned the first save of his career Friday. He was given the ball in the save situation, because Fernando Salas was unavailable following a 1.1-inning Thursday outing. It's worth noting that Lynn is in line to get saves, but there's no more to be read into here. Salas is still the man in Cardinal land. And by the by, I called this development like two or three weeks ago. Just saying.

Toronto – Jon Rauch is the closer in Canada right now. We know that could change, but he's the guy to own as long as he isn't blowing anymore save chances.

Recommended Pickup

Trayvon Robinson, OF, SEA – Robinson's value will depend on how much action he gets, but it's worth featuring the fact that he was called up. The Dodgers, who have been searching for a quality bat to start in left field regularly, traded Robinson, their best left field prospect, to the Mariners for some crap and more crap (read: not a potentially MLB-ready players that fills a hole our major league team has been trying to fill for years, which is what we traded away in Robinson). Through 368 at-bats at Triple-A this season, Robinson hit .293 with 26 home runs, 71 RBI, 70 runs scored, eight steals, and a 45:122 BB:K ratio. Not even a week after acquiring him from the Dodgers, the Mariners called up Robinson. He made his debut Friday night and went 1-for-3 with a strikeout in his major-league debut. You may have seen his over-the-wall catch on top plays. The Mariners will have him in an outfield rotation with Casper Wells, but they may also give Robinson at-bats at DH. Watch his usage to see how shallow of leagues he can be used in.
