Closer Watch

AstrosJosh Fields surrendered a solo home run to the Mariners' Brad Miller, but still hung on for his fourth save of the season in Monday's 6-4 win over the Mariners. Meanwhile, Chia-Jen Lo worked the seventh inning and gave up two runs. Fields may not be a reliable closer, but with two successful save conversions in a row, he seems to be the top ninth-inning option for Houston right now, especially in light of Lo's struggles.

Recommended Pickup

Matt Adams, 1B, STL – Adams has spent much of this season as an over-qualified pinch-hitter for the Cardinals, compiling nine homers and 36 RBI through the end of August despite only receiving 206 at-bats. His continued production off the bench was quite the asset for the Cardinals, but limited his fantasy prospects since he never benefitted from regular at-bats. However, with Allen Craig out indefinitely due to a mid-foot sprain, Adams has received starts in seven of the last eight games and should be locked into steady playing time moving forward. Adams showed great home run power in the minors and in his limited at-bats in the majors this season, and should also provide handsome returns in the RBI and run columns with a talented offense accompanying him in the lineup.
