Closer Watch

New York Yankees and Boston – Both Dan Robertson and Koji Uehara were stuck with losses Tuesday, but each pitcher entered in a tie game and did not blow a save situation.

Washington – Tyler Clippard was given a chance to close out Monday's game against the Diamondbacks, but he coughed up the one run lead before the Nationals won in extras. Rafael Soriano blew a save opportunity Sunday and Clippard may have been given Monday's opportunity due to Soriano's recent workload.

Recommended Pickup

Carlos Carrasco, P, CLE – The Indians are down enough pitchers that Carrasco was reinserted into the rotation August 5. His first start did not go well against the Reds, but he has thrown 12 scoreless innings in his last two starts, earning a win in both turns. Carrasco is not the most talented pitcher on earth and he may be best suited for the bullpen, which could play a part in driving his solid numbers this season. Still, he has allowed 63 hits and 18 walks in 77 innings on the season after allowing 64 hits and 18 walks in 46.2 innings in 2013. Carrasco has been worlds better this year, though he certainly won't keep going at the rate he has gone in his last two starts.
