Ryan McKenna

McKenna's 2023 campaign got off to a rotten beginning. In his first start on April 1 versus the Red Sox, he dropped a routine flyball which would've been the final out of the game and then watched the next batter hit a walk-off homer. It would be dramatic to say the 27-year-old's season never got better, but McKenna spent much of the year being shuttled back-and-forth between Triple-A Norfolk and the majors and posted just a .677 OPS with a 28.8 percent strikeout rate during his time with the big club. McKenna's best shot at playing time is in a short-side platoon role, and with a career .221/.288/.333 line versus left-handed pitching, it's difficult to have any confidence he'd be successful with that gig.
