JP Sears

Sears made 22 starts for the Athletics in 2025 before being shipped to the Padres, who shuttled him between Triple-A and the majors the rest of the season. Regardless of who he was pitching for, the left-hander had a rough 2025 campaign, finishing with career worsts in ERA (5.04) and WHIP (1.32) while surrendering 30 home runs in just 135.2 frames. Sears once again limited the free passes with a 2.4 BB/9, but he doesn't provide much swing-and-miss with a career 7.5 K/9. Landing with the Padres certainly puts him in a more favorable team situation, but it also amplifies the pressure and could result in him being beat out for a rotation spot.
