Olivares popped a career-high 12 home runs last season and Statcast's xHR says he should have had 17.4. The gap of 5.4 was the largest in all of baseball. Exactly half of Olivares' home runs came in September, a month during which he posted a blistering 1.047 OPS. That was after he had slumped badly enough to get sent back to the minors in August. It was a two-month stretch which essentially summed up Olivares' career so far, as he's shown flashes of big ability but the consistency and playing time haven't always been there. The Royals punted on him this winter, trading the 28-year-old to the Pirates. Perhaps a fresh start in the Steel City is what the doctor ordered. Read Past Outlooks
