Kahnle hasn't had a season where he avoided the injured list since 2019, and he threw a total of just 13.2 regular-season innings from 2020-22. However, the 35-year-old has been effective when on the bump, most recently posting a 2.11 ERA, 1.15 WHIP and 46:19 K:BB over 42.2 regular-season innings with the Yankees last season. Kahnle once again had the highest pitch percentage of changeups in the league at 73.1 percent, an offering that produced a Statcast Run Value of 10 which was 4th-highest in the league for that pitch type. After signing a 1-year, $7.75 million deal with Detroit this offseason, Kahnle is expected to be part of the late-inning mix for the Tigers, which could ultimately include save opportunities.
