Newcomb had the best season of his career last year, recording a 2.73 ERA in 92.1 innings while working mostly as a reliever. The White Sox intend to stretch him out as a starter again, and on a roster that lacks established starters, the veteran lefty would seem to have a legitimate shot at breaking camp in the rotation.
