Rodriguez never saw the mound for the Orioles in 2025 due to lat and elbow issues, and he was traded to the Angels in November for Taylor Ward. During his second season in the majors in 2024, Rodriguez showcased his elite potential with a 3.86 ERA, 1.24 WHIP and 26.5 percent strikeout rate before the lat injury ended his season in August. The right-hander has as much upside as pretty much any young pitcher in baseball, but his durability is a major question mark at this point, especially given that Baltimore was willing to part ways with him in a 1-for-1 trade for an outfielder that will be a free agent after 2025. Rodriguez is expected to be ready for the start of spring training, but good health for Opening Day certainly isn't guaranteed. Since he hasn't taken a big-league mound since August of 2024, Rodriguez is likely to have some workload restrictions in 2026, even if he stays healthy. Read Past Outlooks
