2026 Fantasy Outlook
Barco tossed a career-high 102.1 innings across Double-A, Triple-A and the majors in 2025 and could compete for the fifth starter's spot in spring training. The 6-foot-4 southpaw had Tommy John surgery at Florida but still received over $1.5 million from the Pirates in the second round of the 2022 draft. He missed a couple weeks in May with a mild shoulder strain and logged a 3.65 ERA, 1.33 WHIP and 76:36 K:BB in 69 innings over 19 appearances the rest of the year in the upper minors. He got the call to the majors at the end of the Triple-A season and threw three scoreless innings with three Ks in two relief appearances. Barco has a strong three-pitch mix, although none of his pitches are plus, so he fits nicely at the back of a big-league rotation. He should spend more time in the majors than the minors in 2026.
