After recording 11 saves during his rookie season, Barlow once again took over closing duties for the Rangers last May. He tallied 13 saves over a three month stretch for Texas before he was removed from the closer role in early July due to a string of poor performances. Barlow only made seven more appearances over the rest of the season due to persistent blister issues that required two separate trips to the IL. Since he also missed time in 2021 due to a blister, the 27-year-old had a procedure done this offseason to separate a pair of fused tendons in his wrist, which is believed to have contributed to the issues. Barlow should be ready for spring, but Texas has several other relievers who have better skills suited for their closer role. Read Past Outlooks
