Parker beat the eventual world champion Dodgers in his big-league debut in April, and while there were bumps in the road from there, his final numbers as a rookie were highly respectable. The left-hander made 29 starts and totaled 151 innings for the Nationals, pitching to a 4.29 ERA and 1.30 WHIP. HIs fastball is lacking and can get touched up, but his splitter and slider both had whiff rates over 35 percent last season, hinting at room for growth with his strikeout rate even with his below-average velocity. He had a nine-run disaster Aug. 15 at Philadelphia which should serve as a reminder of his downside in the wrong matchup.
