Melton came a long way over the past year, finishing the 2024 season on the injured list at Double-A Erie with a shoulder strain before concluding the 2025 campaign as one of the Tigers' key arms in the postseason. The 25-year-old was unable to replicate his strikeout rate between Double- and Triple-A (32.4 percent) during the regular season in the majors (20 percent), but he offered a glimpse of his upside in three ALDS outings versus the Mariners, during which he fanned eight while yielding one run over eight frames. After bouncing back-and-forth between the bullpen and rotation in 2025, the expectation is that Melton will get a chance in 2026 to be a full-time member of the Tigers' rotation, though they could have workload restrictions in place for the 25-year-old.
