Following a year of growth in 2024, when Crawford led Boston's rotation with a career-high 183.2 innings, the right-hander was shelved during spring training with patellar tendon soreness. While rehabbing the knee, Crawford developed a wrist injury and was eventually shut down after a couple of start-and-stops. He eventually underwent season-ending surgery on the wrist in July. Cut to the offseason and Crawford was reinstated off the 60-day IL and will vie for a spot in the rotation. Early in the offseason, the rotation had question marks behind Garrett Crochet and Brayan Bello, but Boston added Sonny Gray and Johan Oviedo, so Crawford will be among a group hoping to land the fifth spot in the rotation.
