Things seemed to click for Hoeing after he was dealt to the Padres at the trade deadline last season. He was fine for Miami before the move, posting a 2.70 ERA over 30 innings, but he really shone with San Diego, registering a 1.52 ERA, 0.80 WHIP and 18:5 K:BB across 23.2 frames. All of Hoeing's work with the Padres came out of the bullpen after he had served as a swingman during his two-plus years with the Marlins, and the right-hander has been markedly better as a reliever throughout his career. Hoeing's velocity is around league-average, and he ranked in the 29th percentile with a 20.5% K rate while landing in the 81st percentile with a 48.4% groundball rate last season. Hoeing's performance last year after the trade should lock him in for a bullpen spot in 2025, but his fantasy stock is minimal given that he's not a high-strikeout pitcher and isn't frequently used in high-leverage situations.
