Gibson was a data darling in 2024 in the lower levels, but given that he was an undrafted free agent signing 2023, it took a while for people to catch up to how good he is. It became more apparent in 2025, as the 6-foot-5, 240-pound righty put up a dominant 31.9 K-BB% in a return to High-A and a 1.55 ERA, 0.90 WHIP, 68:18 K:BB and 49.1 percent groundball rate in 52.1 innings (10 starts) at Double-A. He ran into some bad luck and performed worse against Triple-A hitters, logging a 7.98 ERA, 3.80 xFIP, 1.81 WHIP and 31:12 K:BB in 29.1 innings over seven starts. Gibson's dominant groundball rates from 2024 didn't carry over in 2025, as he has steadily tinkered with his pitch mix. He operates with a pair of mid-90s fastballs and several breaking ball variations, all of which are exciting bat-missing weapons. The Orioles are going into 2026 with plenty of rotation depth, but Gibson should be deserving of a shot sometime this summer. He has a chance to be a high-strikeout mid-rotation starter.
