2026 Fantasy Outlook
While it's impressive that Realmuto has remained a capable starting catcher through his age-34 season, he's clearly not the player he once was. His OPS slipped to .700 last year, his lowest mark since his rookie season, while he managed just 12 homers. He's now averaged 13 homers and five steals over the past two seasons, well below the 19.7 homers and 16.7 steals he averaged over the previous three. Previously a player who would regularly be at or near the top of the plate appearance leaderboard for catchers, allowing him to compile big run and RBI totals, he ranked a mere seventh in plate appearances (550) among catchers last season and finished eighth in runs (57) and 15th in RBI (52). Now a free agent, he should land somewhere where he'll still get most of the starts behind the plate, making him a very serviceable option in two-catcher leagues, but there's very little upside here at his age, so those in one-catcher leagues may want to look towards the younger generation.
