He has performed well when given the opportunity, boasting an .813 OPS (123 OPS+) through 355 total major-league plate appearances, but Garrett appears to be more of a placeholder in Washington as opposed to a building block. With top outfield prospects James Wood and Dylan Crews on the cusp of reaching the majors, Garrett could be traded or moved into a bench role by the middle of the 2024 campaign. Even if he does manage to hang on to a starting job for an extended period, his flaws will eventually be exposed as the sample size grows. The 28-year-old former eighth-round pick of the Marlins owns an ugly 30.7 strikeout percentage in the bigs, and his career .366 BABIP suggests he's been the beneficiary of some really good luck.
