Mauricio missed most of 2023 and all of 2024 while recovering from ACL surgery and later a cleanup procedure on his knee. He began the 2025 season in extended spring training before earning a promotion to the Mets in early June. Mauricio played quite a bit initially and put up a .751 OPS with six home runs between June and July, but the 25-year-old's reps (10 starts) and production (.429 OPS) cratered in the final two months. The switch hitter became a well-thought-of prospect because of his raw tools, and he maintained a nice 91.2 mph average exit velocity in 2025. His sprint speed, though, fell from the 60th percentile in 2023 all the way to the 13th percentile in 2025. Perhaps Mauricio was told to not go full-out on his rebuilt knee, but it's also possible he'll never regain his old wheels. Mauricio's best shot at playing time in 2026 is likely as a utility infielder. Read Past Outlooks
