In 58 games from June 11 through the end of the season, Hinds slashed .324/.398/.671 with 18 home runs, 11 steals and a 25.1 percent strikeout rate as a 22-year-old at Double-A. The pre-tacked balls were removed from the Southern League mid-season, so that aided his improved play after he notched a 41.9 percent strikeout rate in the first 50 games. A former third baseman, Hinds has a huge arm in right field and moves well for his size (6-foot-4, 215 pounds). The Reds added him to the 40-man roster as Rule 5 draft protection, and it's easy to fixate on his 70-grade raw power in Great American Ball Park. First, he'll need to prove that this newfound ability to make contact at an acceptable clip is sustainable as he moves up to Triple-A.
