McCann spent last season backing up Shea Langeliers. Compared to other No. catchers, McCann should have played more but Langeliers squatted for the second most games in MLB last season. McCann's 102 wRC+ was better than many starting backstops. He fanned a bloated 37.6 percent of the time, but a fortunate .368 BABIP rescued his average, while a high 12.3 percent Barrel Rate drove power. Even so, McCann outpointed his expected numbers, so repeating last season's production will be a challenge. He's slated to serve as Langeliers' understudy again this season, relegating McCann to AL-only formats. Read Past Outlooks
