Acuna drew the start at second base on Opening Day for the Mets last season and was in the lineup regularly for the first several weeks, hitting .293 with 10 stolen bases across his first 33 contests. The playing time eventually dried up, and Acuna spent much of the summer going back-and-forth between the majors and Triple-A Syracuse. Acuna makes a lot of contact and is a superb baserunner, but the good batted-ball data he showed in his cup of coffee in 2024 fell off dramatically in 2025, as he sported just a 35.5 percent hard-hit rate and 1.4 percent barrel rate. The diminutive Acuna will never be a power hitter, but he'll need to get his quality of contact metrics back to a respectable level if he wants to get on base enough to take advantage of his wheels. Opening the 2026 campaign in a utility role with the big club is probably a best-case scenario for the 24-year-old. Read Past Outlooks
