Beck got a rude awakening against major-league pitching last season after lighting up the Pacific Coast League, slashing just .188/.245/.277 across his first 184 MLB plate appearances. His strikeout rate shot up to 35 percent against big-league competition, which gave him little chance. He turned in a 20-20 season in the minors in 2023, so he has more power than he showed as a rookie. Beck was a supplemental first-round pick in 2022 and the Rockies will be hoping he can contribute more this season, although perhaps not as a regular to begin the campaign.
