2025 Fantasy Outlook
McGonigle is one of the better pure hitters in the minors and has a chance to contribute across the board in fantasy, although he has minimal experience above Single-A. A 5-foot-10 middle infielder whom the Tigers selected out of high school with the No. 37 overall pick in 2023, McGonigle's hit tool was the reason he got drafted where he did, but he is an even better pure hitter than expected, striking out at an 8.5 percent clip with a 89.7 percent contact rate in 2024. The lefty hitter comfortably projects to hit for a high average someday in the majors, and he should steal 20-plus bases. As for his power output, his 23.3 percent hard-hit rate and 103 mph 90th percentile exit velocity are middling marks for a player his age, and his future home park won't do him any favors. Defensively, he has a chance to stick at shortstop but is most likely to end up at the keystone. His 2024 season was cut short in early August due to a broken hand, which required surgery, so he only played 14 games at High-A. McGonigle should spend the bulk of 2025 at Double-A, where he will look to show he can hit for power against quality minor-league pitching. Read Past Outlooks
