Heyward is essentially a replacement-level outfielder entering his age-35 season, but he found the perfect team to give him regular work -- the cash-strapped Padres. He figures to open the year on the strong side of a left-field platoon after singing a one-year, $1 million deal. In 2024, Heyward slashed .211/.288/.412 with 10 home runs and five steals in 87 games split between the Dodgers and Astros. His defense isn't great, but he's not a butcher out there, and he'll provide the Friars with a veteran presence in the clubhouse, but Heyward is simply a body from a fantasy standpoint.
