2025 Fantasy Outlook
Nardi's 2024 surface stats aren't pretty, but looking under the hood provides optimism for his 2025 fantasy prospects. The southpaw posted a strong 70:18 K:BB across his 49.2 innings to improve both his strikeout (33.3 percent) and walk (8.6 percent) rates, respectively. He also tied for Miami's team lead with 15 holds. A late-August elbow injury ended Nardi's season prematurely, but if he's healthy for spring training, he's a lock for a high-leverage role with Miami. Whether that translates into save chances remains to be seen, but Nardi is poised to have a breakout fantasy season one of these years, perhaps as early as 2025. Read Past Outlooks

Placed on 60-day IL
The Marlins placed Nardi on the 60-day injured list Saturday with lower-back inflammation.
ANALYSIS
A setback in Nardi's recovery from a lower-back injury has kept him shut down from throwing since March 5. His status for Opening Day had been in question, but moving to the 60-day IL will ensure he remains out until at least late May. His roster spot will be filled by Seth Martinez, who was claimed off waivers from the Mariners on Saturday.

2024 Fantasy Outlook
Nardi's first full season in the majors was a success, as the southpaw made the Marlins' Opening Day bullpen and worked his way from middle relief to a setup role. The 25-year-old finished second on the team with 17 holds, riding his mid-90's fastball and slider to a 2.67 ERA, 1.15 WHIP and 73:21 K:BB ratio over 57.1 innings. Nardi was one of the best in the league at limiting hard contact with a 99th percentile average exit velocity allowed (84.6 mph) and 98th percentile hard-hit rate (27.3%). While his 8.9% walk rate was a little high, he was 26th among qualified relievers with a 21.9% K-BB percentage. Nardi figures to open 2024 in the setup role, but don't sleep on the possibility he could earn more save chances after finishing last season with three saves and eight wins.

Latest Fantasy Rumors

Assembling strong campaign
Nardi has pitched to a 2.92 ERA across 28 appearances for the Marlins -- tied for the most appearances of any pitcher in MLB thus far.
ANALYSIS
Nardi's 2.91 expected ERA points to sustainable success for the 24-year-old. He was torched for 16 runs across 13 appearances en route to a 9.82 ERA last season, but his fastball performance and strikeout numbers were above average even amid his struggles. The second-year pitcher isn't in the mix for saves yet, but he could be a sneaky source of wins in deep leagues given his heavy usage.
