Re-signs on minor league deal
Acevedo (knee) signed a minor league contract with the Cubs on Monday, Matt Eddy of Baseball America reports.
ANALYSIS
Acevedo became a free agent after being outrighted to Triple-A earlier in the month, but the Cubs decided to bring him back while keeping him off the 40-man roster. The right-hander has a strong history of missing bats, but he'll have to improve upon the ugly 7.20 ERA he posted at Double-A Tennessee prior to tearing his ACL.

2017 Fantasy Outlook
A converted position player, Acevedo was assigned to Double-A Tennessee in early April, where he made six appearances before suffering a torn ACL that ended his season. Although he's already 26, he's still far from a finished product in his development. The hard-throwing right-hander was retained by the Cubs on a minor league deal in November after he was outrighted off the team's 40-man roster. Most likely, he'll begin 2017 working in the upper levels of the team's minor league system while he attempts to improve his command.
